Two arrested for hijacking oil tanker

SIVASAGAR, June 20: Two youths of Sivasagar have been arrested in connection with the hijacking of an oil tanker bearing registration number NL-01/G-0085. The two, who were involved in the hijacking of the tanker, have been identified as Bubul Ahmed of West Jamu Road and Papu Ali of Ghilaguri area in Sivasagar. The four-member special investigation unit of the Assam Police, Guwahati on Friday arrested the duo after a marathon run since the police seized an oil-tanker laden with 24,000 kilolitres in Guwahati a few days ago. The police had earlier arrested Rabi Mishra, Ganesh Sharma, Om Prakash Sinha and Samiran Talukdar which led to the arrest of the two accomplises from Sivasagar. Both Bubul and Papu were taken to Guwahati on Friday night. Police has not revealed more details in this connection so far.
