Two arrested for teasing college student

SILCHAR, Sept 8: A female student of HS second year of Nehru College, Pailapool, and resident of Harigar, was teased by three youths while she was returning home on a passenger bus at 4 pm on August 26. The girl on her way home boarded the bus in front of her institution when this incident of eve-teasing took place. The girl in discomfort got down from the bus and following day she lodged an FIR with the Joypur police station. Three culprits on the basis of the information of the girl have been identified as Jubir Ahmed, Sahadul Laskar and Mun Laskar, all in the age group of 25 to 27, and residents of Subhash gar under Joypur police station. Acting upon the report filed, the police arrested Jubir Ahmed and Sahadul Laskar, while Mun Laskar is still absconding. Taking a serious view of the incident, members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad of Joypur and Lakhipur units staged a token hunger strike at Pailapool point today, demanding immediate arrest of the absconding culprit. Pradip Kumar Gupta, circle officer, Lakhipur, on receiving the information, deputed magistrate Yahadul Islam, ACS, to control the situation. He advised them to withdraw their hunger strike after ensuring them that Mun Laskar will also be brought to book and given punishment as per the provision of law. ABVP after getting the assurance withdrew the strike.
