Two bills passed

Itagar, Oct 16: The Aruchal Pradesh Assembly on Monday passed two important government bills by voice votes. The Kameng Professiol and Technical University Aruchal Pradesh Bill 2017 (Amended) was passed by the members to pave way for establishment of a private university at Bhalukpong in West Kameng district. Education Minister Honchun Ngandam tabled the Bill during the Budget session held on March this year but the house referred the bill to a select committee, under the chairmanship of Ngandam, after objections were raised by various members on certain clauses of the bill. The report of the select committee was tabled in the Assembly by Ngandam on October 14 last. The Assembly also passed the Aruchal Pradesh Agriculture Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2017 that was tabled in the house by Agriculture Minister Wangki Lowang on Saturday. In his remark, Lowang said that the bill was an extension of the principle Act of the Centre which is mandatory for every State to oblige. The bill aimed to provide for geographically restricted trade transaction of agriculture produces including livestock across the State and the country. It is also aimed to enhance transparency in trade operations and price settlement mechanism, adoption of electronic and other innovative form of technology, to promote emergence of multiple channels for competitive marking, agri processing and agriculture export, among others.
