Two books released at Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR, June 11: Two books titled Sahityar Upiotyakat Rajanoitik Cheta, edited by Hemanga Ranjan Chutia and Smaran Saikia,  both Assistant Professors of Swahid Moniram Dewan (SMD) College, Charing  and  Chandra Prasad Saikiar Monideepor para Goriyoshiloi, edited  by Ranjit  Das, Assistant Professor of SMD College, were released at Gaurisagar recently.

Dr. Saumarjyoti Mahanta, Principal, Sibsagar  Commerce College, released the two books. Releasing the books, Dr. Mahanta said that without political activities, literature could not be created. “Literature is a mirror of a society and hence literature is created depending on  social environment,” he said. Dr. Mahanta also opined that the epics of Indian literature Ramaya and Mahabharata had political philosophy.

The dignitaries who attended the function were Chandra Kamal Hazarika, former Principal, SMD College, Dr. Manjit Gogoi, Princial, Jhanji Hem th Sarmah (HNS) College, Dr Mamoni Borah Khargharia and  Dr. Robi Kumar Zha, Professor and Head, Department of Assamese  and English, SMD College and Pranjal Protim Borah, noted poet and Assistant Professor , Jhanji HNS College.
