Two brokers apprehended outside civil hospital

From a Correspondent

Goalpara, December 8: In continuation of its drive against anti-social elements, Goalpara Police on Thursday apprehended at least two brokers from the Goalpara Civil Hospital complex. The brokers are identified as Merajul Hoque alias Dabor of village Hasilapara and Ajijul Hoque of village Moilapathar under Goalpara police station.

The police, after several allegations by general people of being misled by brokers, had a hawk’s eye in and around the 200-bedded Bhalukdubi Civil Hospital complex. On Thursday, both Merajul and Ajijul were caught red-handed by police while luring patients from the civil hospital to private nursing homes.

Amitav Sinha, Superintendent of Police, said, “We are not going to spare any dealers of drugs, teer, gambling or any other anti-socials in the district.” He further urged the civilians to use his mobile number given at various public places and inform him of any law-and-order situation that required immediate response.

On November 11, Goalpara Police took a stern step by arresting an Ayurvedic doctor and his two agents.
