Two businessmen arrested for purchasing stolen goods

Tamulpur, November 3: Two businessmen were arrested at grijuli in connection with purchasing stolen spices (jeera) from a gambler on Wednesday night. In-charge of grijuli Police outpost, yanjyoti Deka launched an operation at grijuli market and bbed two businessmen, mely Krish Das (35) and Pradip Saha (37).‘

 Police recovered more than 200 kg jeera from the godown and shop of both businessmen. Police also seized a four-wheeler (AS-25-BC-3502) from Ikrabil village from the premises of a driver med Augstin. Police said that on October 29, a truck bearing number AS-25-C-4046, loaded with eight ton jeera and bags of clothes was stolen from BG Yard in Guwahati. A case was registered in the Basistha Police Station U/S 408 bearing case number 1154/16. Police recovered the empty truck but could not recover the materials.

Baksa Superintendent of Police, Binoy Kalita got information that in grijuli area some gambler had entered with the stolen materials and ordered to launch an operation. In-charge of grijuli police outpost launched an operation on Wednesday night at grijuli market area and recovered the stolen materials and arrested them. Police further said that the materials were brought to grijuli by a businessman of Rangia and he is also the owner of the four-wheeler. Basistha Police arrived at grijuli and took both the businessmen into custody. Investigation is going on.
