Two businessmen looted in Upper Dehing Reserve Forest

DIGBOI, Jan 19: A group of seven unidentified armed miscreants robbed two local businessmen of Bordumsa Madhapur Bazar on Wednesday evening in the Upper Dehing Reserve Forest along the Digboi-Bordumsa Roadunder Pengaree Police Station in Tinsukia district.

According to Sitaram Thapa (40) and Hari Newar, both residents of Bordumsa Madhapur Bazar who fell prey to the robbers, a group of seven armed miscreants suddenly emerged out of the thick reserve forest near the Pengaree ambush site of November 19 and asked the two businessmen trading in green tea leaves to stop the motorcycles they were on, and after a through physical search, took away more than Rs 50,000 cash and several important documents.

“Stching our valuables under the cover of darkness, the miscreants disappeared in the bushes located within a close range of Pengaree Police Station,” added Thapa who was returning home from Tinsukia along with his friend.

Sanjiv Saikia, the OC Pengaree, said that investigation was going on and no arrest had been made till filing of this report.
