Two cars stolen, car lifter bbed

Golaghat, October 13: Kamargaon Police arrested a car lifter with an ALTO car from Khumtai area in Golaghat district on Tuesday. Sources said that two ALTO cars bearing numbers AS 01P 2866 and AS 01U 7292 were stolen early morning about 4 am from Loukhowjan area under the Bokakhat police station.  Getting information, Kamargaon Police followed the gang of car thieves in the two ALTO cars. One ALTO car bearing number AS 01P 2866 met with an accident and fell into a drain. The car lifters left the car and fled away. The other car sped away. Later on the police launched a search operation in the Khumtai area. The villagers noticed that some unidentified persons had been seen in the area. They bbed a person and another two are absconding. The villagers beat him and later handed him over to the police. The car lifter has been   identified as Papul Kalita from Athkhelia Gaon in Golaghat district.
