Two cattle smugglers held

SHILLONG, June 6: The BSF troops deployed at Umsiam in East Khasi Hills district on Tuesday apprehended two cattle smugglers with a Maruti Alto. The cattle smugglers identified Sonwell (17) of Lapalang and Jewellson Kharwan (18) of Nongsdar under Pynursla police station in East Khasi Hills district. Two mobile phones with two Indian SIM cards and Rs. 4380 were seized from their possession. In another incident the troops of BSF deployed at Patharghat, East Khasi Hills district seized 19 cattle while being smuggled out to Bangladesh from India. The smugglers maged to escape taking the advantage of darkness and dense bushes. Apprehended persons and seized items handed over to concern department for further legal action.
