Two ceasefire cadres of militant groups bbed

Chirang, June 28: Chirang police on Tuesday arrested two persons - Mathla alias Sunil Tudu (23), an Adivasi tiol Liberation Army (ANLA) ceasefire cadre and Biswath Hembrom alias Chinese (31), an Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam (ACMA) ceasefire cadre in connection with the attempt of kidpping of one Raj Kishore Shah on June 16.

The two were arrested in reference to Runikhata PS Case No 37/16 U/S 341/326/367/34 IPC (failed attempted kidpping of one Raj Kishore Shah) on June 16 from Ghorsingpara under Runikhata police station in Chirang.

Mathla alias Sunil Tudu is from Podotola Amguri in Kokrajhar district while Biswath Hembrom alias Chinese is from Paschim Golajhar under Runikhata police station in Chirang.

Chirang SP Sankar Brata Raimedhi said the two were arrested after an operation was launched by Chirang police. He said during interrogation they had confessed regarding their involvement in the crime and stated that the motive was kidpping for ransom.

On June 16, the gang called up Shah, owner of a Tata Winger vehicle on the pretext of hiring the vehicle for a wedding. When Shah along with the driver Padmeswar Choudhury reached the spot, the rebels forced Choudhury out of the vehicle and tried kidpping Shah. He, however, maged to escape. He received cut injuries when he resisted the kidpping attempt.

Three more people were involved in the crime. Further operations are on to b them, the SP said. One mobile phone and a khukri used in the commission of the offence were recovered.
