Two children rescued from Tangla railway station

TANGLA, Jan 30: At a time when there have been reports of human trafficking in Udalguri district, Tangla Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued two children from Tangla railway station on Monday while they were being taken to New Delhi to be handed over to a placement agency.

According to sources, the rescued children include a girl belonging to the tea tribe community from Orangajuli TE under Dimakuchi PS while the tribal boy is from Khusubil under Panery PS in Udalguri district. The RPF also arrested a couple accompanying the children.

RC Deka, RPF sub-inspector, said, “The children were with the couple, loitering suspiciously in Tangla railway station. Suspecting something fishy, the RPF force rescued them and detained the couple.”

The couple was identified as Gobinda Sori (28), a resident of Sikaribangla of Udalguri district and Silpa Biswakarma (27), a resident of Dipatola under Jamurighat PS under Sonitpur district.

The rescued children and the couple were later handed over to Dimakuchi PS. Meanwhile, Bakul Kakati, OC Dimakuchi PS, said that they had been taken into custody and further investigation was on.
