Two-day disaster magement programme held in Lakhipur

Silchar, Sept 27: In the wake of earthquakes and other tural disasters, emergency treatment and arrangements are necessary steps in order to save life. In this regard, a two-day mock drill programme, ‘Lakhipur Emergency Magement Exercise, Iugural Ceremony and Table Top Exercise 2016’, was organized by the District Disaster Magement Authority, Cachar, in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Magement Authority in the Nehru College auditorium, Poilapool, Lakhipur. The programme, iugurated by the S Viswathan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, was attended by a large number of officials and employees of all the departments under Lakhipur sub-division along with teachers and students and personnel of NDRF, SDRF, Fire Brigade, department of Vetery.

 S Viswathan said, “People should know how to handle crisis and emergency situations. Earthquakes and other disasters often surprise us. We should learn what and how to do in such situations.” Personnel of 27 Assam Rifles, Lkhipur police and CRPF took an active part in the mock drill programme. Practical based knowledge cum demonstration regarding fire prevention, maging emergency situation were shown at Jawahar vadoy Vidyalaya, Poilapool, Poilapool Community Hall, Earl Higher secondary School, Lakhipur and Nehru College, Poilapool.
