Two-day international seminar

GAURISAGAR, April 30: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of  Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah (HNS) College, has organized a two-day long international seminar on the topic ‘Socio-cultural assimilation in North East India and South East Asia’ in active collaboration with UGC approved Gandhi Centre of the college, Assam College Principals’ Council, Institute of Tai Studies and Research, Moranhat and prominent NGO Krishak Nyas. Ratnaporn Sethakul, Professor of the Department of History, Payap University, Thailand inaugurated the seminar on Monday. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted briefly about socio-cultural assimilation with the Tai people in Assam and their culture. Paromita Das, Professor and head of the department of History, Gauhati University, delivered the key-note address.
 On Monday, nine technical sessions were held on various sub-themes like socio-cultural assimilation in North East India etc.. These technical sessions are chaired by Dr. Ratnaporn Sethakul, Dr.Sangeeta Gogoi, Patricia Cheesman and others. In the inaugural session, five books, including souvenir-cum-abstract volume, were unveiled by the dignitaries. In the evening an interaction session was held with resource persons, media and public. In honour of the foreign educationists, a cultural function was held.
