Two-day Sahrul Traditiol Festival concludes

MARGHERITA, April 24: The two-day Sahrul Traditiol Festival of Adivasi community concluded with much enthusiasm and gaiety on Sunday.

The programme was organized by AASAA Margherita Regiol Committee, AASAA Lamagaon branch committee and with the cooperation of Margherita people which was held at Lamagaon New Field Margherita.

The first day of the programme began with hoisting of AASAA flag by Ramanus Lakra, president of All Adivasi Student Association, Margherita regiol committee, followed by smriti tarpan by Prakash Urang, general secretary of AASAA Margherita Regiol Committee.

After that quiz and drawing competition were held among the school children. The first day of the programme concluded with a cultural evening programme where local artistes enthralled the audience. The second day of the programme began with a cultural procession which was iugurated by Milton John Kujur, advisor of AASAA Margherita Regiol Committee, and more than 1000 people participated in the cultural procession.

After that an open session was held which was presided by Marshall g, former chief organizing secretary of AASAA Margherita Regiol Committee where many distinguished persons were present such as Nuwas Barla, joint secretary of AASAA central committee, Raja Kujur, president of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee, and Budhith Prajapati, president of Nyay Manch Sabka and legal advisor of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee. More than 2,000 people were present at the open session.

In his iugural speech, Nuwas Barla said that Adivasi people were the aborigil tribes of the Country and had immensely contributed for the development for the society and tion. All the present distinguished persons spoke about the contribution of Adivasi people in Assam.
