Two-day science exhibition kicks off

TANGLA, Oct 23: In a bid to build scientific temperament and stimulate creativity and address the curiosity of students in a positive way, a two-day long science exhibition kicked off at Arunodoi Academy in Tangla on Monday. The exhibition has been arranged on the occasion of the school’s 13th foundation day. Inspector of Schools, Udalguri, Bhaben Deuri iugurated the science exhibition.  Principal of Arunodoi Junior Science College, Prabjyoti Das in his welcome speech proudly recalled the day when the school was established.

 Attending the programme as guest of honour, District coorditor of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Jayanta Das lauded the efforts of the school and said that events like science exhibition were a foray for students into the world of science and technology. He exhorted students not to run after a career in medical and engineering but to step into the field of research.

 Wildlife biologist Anjan Sangma also spoke on the occasion. A total of 110 attractive and innovative science models mostly working models have been displayed by more than 250 students ranging from Class III to Class X which drew appreciation from people. An art and craft exhibition was also arranged by students showing various paintings and hand-made designs of bamboo, wood and fibre. Students and teachers of various schools of Tangla and nearby area visited the exhibition. A few working science models like-sewage water treatment, hydrogen producing machine, automatic street light, aeroboat, and conservation of Asiatic cows pertaining to global warming and bio-gas were praised by people. A wildlife documentary of Anjan Sangma was also screened.
