Two dead, several injured in different road mishaps in Digboi

DIGBOI, Dec 5: Two persons died and several people were injured in a series of different road mishaps that occurred at various locations under Digboi Police Station in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam in the last 24 hours.

Ramen Borgohain (41), son of Mahendra Borgohain of No 2 Bapapung area, breathed his last on Sunday evening at AOD Hospital Digboi, an hour after he met with an accident on Digboi –Pengaree Road at Bapapung area in Digboi. According to local sources, the deceased who was a businessman, was returning home from the market on his motor cycle bearing registration number AS23 D 3375. “He might have lost control due to ditches on the road and hit his head hard,” suspected a friend of the deceased as the road was deserted at around 10.30 pm when the tragic incident took place.

Meanwhile, two persons, including a pillion rider, were injured at Golai area after a Pulser bike bearing registration No AS06 L- 4149 collided with a Maestro Scooty (AS23 P 6432) on Sunday evening.  In yet another road mishap that occurred at Digboi Charali on Monday morning, a Pulsar bike (AS06 P-9763) hit an Eon car (AS23 P- 6978), damaging the vehicle though no serious injury was reported.

Meanwhile, an Omni Maruti van (AS23 -2160) collided with a Swift Dzire (AS23J - 8827) at Golai on Sunday evening  where according to reports one person died on the spot while several others were injured.

The body of the deceased was sent to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for post mortem while the injured are being treated at different hospitals. The deceased is survived by his parents, a brother, wife and a child.
