Two die in road mishap

BONGAIGAON, Oct 28:  Two persons were killed and several others were injured in a tragic road mishap today at Bokultala Borjhora area under North Salmara police outpost in Bongaigaon district. The incident took place when a bus (AS-01-EC-0582) coming from Dhubri to Guwahati collided head on with a truck (AP-16-TC-3555) carrying plywood from Aruchal Pradesh to Kolkata at about 10-30 am.

Talking to reporters, North Salmara outpost in- charge said that one passenger identified as Robaidur RAhman (35) of Birsingsor area under Fakirganj PS of Dhubri district died on the spot.

“About 30 people were injured, some of them seriously and have been admitted to hospital. Among them, one died at the hospital. The driver of the bus also received serious injury and admitted to hospital. However, the truck driver and the handyman fled from the spot.

Later the driver identified as Srinivas and the handyman identified as Raju surrendered to police. We have registered a case in this regard,” he said.
