Two drug peddlers bbed

SHILLONG, March 7: Two hard core drug peddlers were arrested on Sunday night from Laitumkhrah area in the heart of Shillong. According to the Police, while the patrolling party from Laitumkhrah was patrolling the adjoining areas around Laitumkhrah bazaar, Lummawrie and Fire Brigade due to the Intertiol Trade Fair, they spotted one white metallic colour Zen, registration no WB-02-U-4637. Upon questioning the occupants, one Wanker Thubru (24) of Mawlai, Nongkwar was found to be peddling heroin. The Anti rcotics wing swung into action and on conducting search found 5.89 gms of heroin packed in soap case, one Golden tobacco tin container and cash worth Rs 26,050 which is the sale proceeds from drugs. On the lead provided by Wanker Thubru, one Ngaihnu Vaiphei (38) was apprehended with 13.48gms heroin. She is a hardcore supplier and was earlier arrested in Madanriting.

Meanwhile, in a significant arrest, four persons mely  Bikash Kumar (20) of Kathiar, Bihar, Amar Gowala (25) of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal and two minors from Siliguri were bbed from Police Bazaar while planning to trap people by robbing them who had just come out of bank after withdrawal for cash. Their modus operandi is that they will make surveillance of people who enter the bank for withdrawal. After the victim leaves the bank with the cash, they distract the person by throwing some dirt (which is chewed moist biscuit) on the back of the person. In the meanwhile, another gang member will offer water to clean up the clothes while another person will walk away with the money bag.
