Two feared drowned in Subansiri

Itagar, June 20: Two persons are feared drowned in Subansiri River at Dollungmukh in Lower Subansiri district of Aruchal Pradesh on Saturday.

According to an report from district information and public relation officer, Ki Tedi, Bini Tagam, Nido Tap, Binod Nino and Tajar Biku had gone for hunting and were returning from the jungle on a locally made raft of wild ba stems.

All five jumped off the raft when it reached near a tunnel fearing that the river flow might take them into the tunnel. Three of the five persons maged to swim to safety while Binod Bini and Tajar Biku went untraceable. The two remained untraceable till now.

Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, Kemo Lollen camping at Dollungmukh is closely monitoring the search operations led by Dy SP Tab Techi. Locals and paramilitary forces have also been pressed into the search operations.

DC Lollen visited the parents and the children of the missing people and consoled them. He also announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakhs to the bereaved family members of the missing presumed as dead, the report added.
