Two GNLA rebels bbed

SHILLONG, Jan 31: Police today arrested two Garo tiol Liberation Army (GNLA) rebels in South Garo Hills district.

According to the police the arrested militants have been identified as-Tobiash Ch Marak alias Changdul, (20) and Rakran Ch Marak (18), both of Rongpakgre village under Chokpot police station.

The duo was arrested from Ganggugre village near Deku in an early morning operation today by Baghmara SWAT team.

One 7.65 pistol with magazine, three live rounds and GNLA ID card were recovered from their possession. Police said that Changdul was earlier part of West Garo Hills command under GNLA.

Police also informed that Changdul was present during a brief exchange of fire with South Garo Hills police near Darenggre on January 27, 2015.

Meanwhile in another incident, three persons were arrested today for their involvement in an abduction case. The three arrested persons have been identified as- Jholsh G Momin (25) of Resu Radi, North Garo Hills district, Walmen G Momin alias Katrangbat Momin (25) of Dingoapal, Bajengdoba, North Garo Hills and Sengman R Marak (25) of Nongrisan of West Khasi Hills district.

The trio was apprehended by Aradonga police today from Mawram Noonmati, West Khasi Hills district in connection with the abduction case of Darius Marngar of Nongthymai village under Aradonga outpost in West Khasi Hills district.
