Two hardcore dacoits apprehended

Rangia, Dec 4: Two hardcore dacoits, who were involved in a robbery case held at Pakorko near Alikash under Hajo PS on July 15, were bbed by Prab Kumar Pegu, SDPO Rangia, from Balisatra near Rangia on Saturday evening acting on a tip-off. According to police officer, Chandi Charan Das, the owner of Kamrupa Theatre, along with five others robbed the cash-carrying van of different post offices of Kamrup district. They looted about Rs 21 lakh at gun point. Police arrested Chandi Charan Das and Dwipen Das, both from village Dihi under Hajo PS on Saturday. The others involved are Bhubaneswar Mazumder, Karu Barman, Bhikheswar Barman and Padum Das. Police recovered one motor cycle (AS 01 MB 6350), three mobile phones, Rs 25,000 and an identity card of All India Freedom Fighter Association Assam unit.  It is alleged that some employee of a particular post office informed the dacoits about the cash-carrying van.
