Two held for duping job aspirants

Bokajan, September 24: Cracking down on fraudsters who are duping innocent people in the me of providing jobs, Bokajan police recently booked two persons, including a woman, for allegedly cheating young aspirants of lakhs of rupees.

The arrested accused are Dhurbo Deka and Mikshi Mech, both residents of Bokajan town. The duo is accused of duping army hopefuls on the pretext of having a good will with many higher ups in the department. They have been slapped charges U/S 120(B), 120, 384 IPC. Three bank accounts have also been freezed in connection.

The incident came to light after the duo failed to hand over the appointment letters to the aspirants in the stipulated time frame and kept dilly-dallying them. The duo had reportedly pocketed a sum of Rs 23.5 lakh from 15 candidates by luring them with promises of job in the Indian Army.

“Dhurbo was impersoting as PA of an army CEO. A few months back, he called us to Guwahati and conducted written examition at Hotel Azola at Paltan Bazaar. Thereafter, we were taken to Sun Valley Hospital and fraudulently subjected to some persol check-up in the me of medical examition. They have also duped many others as well in the same way,” said a victim on condition of anonymity.
