Two held for felling trees

MARGHERITA, July 2: Two person were held today on the charges of felling  eight  precious Hollong Trees at Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary here. A team of forest officials led Lekhajan Forest Beat Officer Achyut Gogoi caught red handed Shankar Sharma and Tongsen Lama while felling trees in the wildlife sanctuary. The two detained person used to work in stone quarry at Khosa mtok in Aruchal Pradesh. Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for Precious Hollong Trees. Margherita West Range Forest Officer Podum Borpatrogohain they have been arrested under section 39 and 41 of Forest Regulation Act and have been sent to judicial custody.
