Two held for poll violence in Baksa

LBARI, April 12: Ghashyam Das, MCLA of no. 23 Dihira BTCLA in Baksa district and one Apurba Chhetri were arrested by Baksa police for allegedly creating disturbances in no. 161 Ujirbari LP School polling centre under Mushalpur police station in no. 63 Chapaguri (ST) LAC on Monday. The incident took place when there was a hue and cry in the booth over a polling officer’s alleged attempt to influence the voters in favour of BPF and smearing the party symbol of torchlight. Later, voting resumed in the said polling booth. Meanwhile, two BPF supporters were injured in a group clash between BPF and UPP supporters at Athiabari while one UPP supporter Samrat Boro was injured in group clash at Geruapara in Baksa.
