Two held with fake currency notes

Mangaldai, July 15: A team of Dhula Police led by Sub Inspector Ranjit Hazarika today apprehended two members of an interstate fake currency racket during search operation in the house one Abu Taher of Galandi Habi village under Daipam police outpost of the district. The duo has been identified as Rasul Ali (52) and Wazed Ali (26). The police seized fake currency notes amounting Rs 5500 in the denomition of Rs 1000 and Rs 500, from their possession. The arrested persons have confessed before police that they along with their accomplices in Kartaka, Kerala, Maldah in West Bengal etc used to spread huge quantity of fake currency in Darrang and adjoining district Udalguri. Further investigations are on to b absconding house owner Abu Taher and other identified members of the notorious racket.
