Two human traffickers caught by local people

KOKRAJHAR, August 18: Two persons, stated to be human traffickers, were caught by local villagers and handed over to Kokrajhar Police on Wednesday. According to local people, Ramesh Yadav and Churki Murmu - a couple from Aliganj Islampur, Aliganj   in Uttar Dijpur district of West Bengal  - had allegedly trafficked three girls with promises of jobs in Delhi in October last year. Sources said the couple first took the girls to Kishanganj and, later handed them over to one Goritri Murmu of Kishanganj in Bihar. From there, the girls were taken to Delhi. The matter came to light after the couple brought one of the three girls back to the village. The girl (19) is now physically weak and suffering from some unknown diseases. She was brought back to Kokrajhar and handed over to her family on Tuesday by the couple who took the three girls. The local people caught the couple and handed them over to the police. They confessed of taking the girls and later handing them to one Goritri Murmu, who took the girls to Delhi. They said they came in contact with the girls through a person from Monglajhora area in Kokrajhar and they girls had been taken to Delhi to work there. Ramesh Yadav and Churki Murmu said that a week back Goritri had called them up and handed over the girl.
