Two iron smugglers held

Joysagar, March 10: Lakwa Police arrested two iron smugglers from Lakwa station area on Friday night. As per reports, the two were allegedly involved in an iron smuggling case. The iron bars and other machines belonged to an ONGC contract firm, M/s Megha Engineering Co. Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad. The company is engaged in ONGC contract work in Lakwa RDS and also in zira and Simaluguri under Sivasagar district. Few days ago, the assistant mager of the company lodged an FIR in Lakwa PS informing about the smuggling of some valuable iron bars and others of the company worth Rs. 8.65 lakh. Following this complaint, Lakwa Police started investigation and filly were able to b the two smugglers from Lakwa. The accused were identified as Haren Mahan (35) of Bokota Gaon and Pinku Gohain (32) of Upper zira village. A case has been registered in this connection in Lakwa PS.
