Two killed in bus accident, several others injured

Bokajan, Dec 22: At least two people, including a woman, were killed on Wednesday after a bus ferrying passengers flipped over NH-39 under limits of Barpathar Police Station in East Karbi Anglong. As reported, the passenger bus (AS 09C 9226) was heading towards Diphu from Dolamora when the driver lost control and knocked a cyclist before hitting against a roadside tree. The cyclist, identified as Haripad Ghosh of Barpathar, was fatally injured and died on the spot. Ghosh was a regular bakery distributor and the lone bread earner of his family. He cycled around the village shops and distributed his bakery items in the area every day.  Another woman passenger of the vehicle suffered severe head injuries and succumbed on the spot. Identification of the deceased woman is yet to be ascertained. Several other passengers suffered major injuries and were rushed to Bokajan Civil Hospital for first aid.
