Two killed in road accident

DEMOW, March 6: A road accident took place on Sunday in NH-37 road near Demow at Thowra Tea Estate Machine Room where one boy and a girl died on the spot.

Kundan Paik (23), son of Jugan Paik, a resident of Thowra Khagorijan and Dipali Garh (18) daughter of Samaru Garh and from the same village, died on the spot. A speeding Mahendra Scorpio car hit the bicycle which the boy and girl were riding.

On the other hand, the driver of the Mahendra Scorpio car, Kaushik Buragohain (20) Suruj Kumar Prasad and Miju Pratim Gogoi were seriously injured. The car was fully damaged in the accident. After the accident, angry people blocked the NH-37 road for two hours and demanded compensation for the victims and also demanded punishment for the owner and driver of the car.

 The Moran Circle Officer and OC of Moran Police Station reached the spot and promised the angry agitators that the owner as well as driver of the car would get punishment and also assured compensation for the victims, after which the agitators withdrew the blockade.
