SHILLONG, July 4: A delegation of NGOs under the banner of the Joint Action Committee of Social Organization South West Khasi Hills District (JACSO) has urged the MP Vincent Pala to carefully examine and seek clarification from the concerned authority regarding the constriction of Nongstoin-Pambriew-Wahkaji- Mawthabah two-lane project.

In a memorandum submitted to the MP the JACSO Chairman, Wallambok Syiemiong stated that even though they welcome development meant for the betterment and upliftmeant of the area and the state as a whole, the JACSO strongly oppose this road project because it is meant to facilitate uranium mining.

Asserting that without the NOC from the KHADC the extension of this road project cannot be fulfilled, Syiemiong further urged the MP to oppose uranium mining.
