Two NDFB(S) hideouts busted in Kokrajhar , Chirang

GUWAHATI, April 26: A team of police and Army in a joint operation today busted a major hideout of NDFB (S) in the thick jungles of Ripu Forest in Kokrajhar district.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, police and Army troops launched a search operation on jungle track Number 7 inside thick jungles of Ripu Reserve Forest, around seven to eight kilometers south from Indo-Bhutan border, Dfence PRO Lt Col Suneet Newton said.   

He said that during the search operation an encounter took place with NDFB (S) cadres. It is suspected that the senior hierarchy  of NDFB(S), involved in the Adivasis massacre on  December 23, 2014, was in the group with whom contact was established.

Newton said that the operation is continuing and a massive hunt is in progress in Ripu Reserve Forest by Army. “So far three AK-47 rifles, four gredes, around  500 rounds of AK-47 and other war like stores have been recovered,” he said.

In another operation, a major NDFB (S) hideout was busted by Army in thick jungles of Mas Forest in Chirang district today. The operation was launched on a specific intelligence, regarding presence of a hideout in Sadiya Ghat area inside Mas Reserve Forest of Chirang, said the Defence PRO.

Three rifles, 176 rounds of   live ammunition, gun powder, a Bajaj Pulsar motorbike and other war like stores were recovered during the operation.

Post the intensification of operations by Security Forces against NDFB(S) after the carge of December 23, 2014, the NDFB(S) terrorist, have hidden weapons and ammunition in the thick jungles and have fled to various places. The operation will act as a severe jolt to the NDFB(S).
