Two new-born districts iugurated

DHUBRI, Feb 11: In the presence of more than 40,000 enthusiastic people of Mankachar and South Salmara LAC areas, the new-born district of South Salmara-Mankachar district with Hatsingimari as its headquarters was iugurated by the lower Assam Commissioner Mehetab Uddin Ahmed at around 2 pm on Tuesday.
After a long-pending demand of a district comprising the backward 21 Mankachar LAC and 22 South Salmara LACs, the State Government iugurated the same just before the Assembly election. The district was supposed to be iugurated by Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi along with the district in-charge Minister Rakibul Hussain, but due to some problems, they couldn’t attend the programme. The lower Assam Commissioner in presence of former ministers Wajed Ali Chaudhary, Mohibul Hoque, zibul Omar, former MLA Dr Motior Rahman Mondal, Dhubri DC Nozrul Islam and other dignitaries iugurated the district. Abdur Rahim Sheik took the charge of the districted as the first Deputy Commissioner.
