Two new firing range created at Katlichera

Hailakandi, Jan 25: The Hailakandi district administration has created a new firing range at the 21st AP (IR) Battalion headquarters at Katlicherra. The order to this effect was issued by Deputy Commissioner Moloy Bora on Wednesday following pleas by the Commandant, 21st AP (IR) Battalion and the Superintendent of Police, stated a press release. The new firing range has been created as the District Police Firing Range, currently used for range classification firing practice, is situated at Serishpore tea estate which is 45 km away from the battalion headquarters. In yet another order, Deputy Commissioner Bora declared the campus of the 21st AP (IR) Battalion as protected area under the Assam Maintence of Public Order Act, 1947. The order strictly prohibits the entry of non-police personnel into the campus without authorized permission. Both the orders come into force with immediate effect.
