Two NSLA rebels arrested with arms

KOKRAJHAR, August 4: Security forces belonging to the army and police apprehended two cadres of tiol Santal Liberation Army (NSLA) from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.

Sources said based on inputs, a joint operation was launched by the army and police in Karigaon area and two NSLA rebels were apprehended. The arrested rebels have been identified as Manoj Soren (18) of Bamungan and Barka Tudu (20) of Lauripara, both in Chirang district.

Two country-made pistols, three live rounds, extortion receipt, two khukris, one mobile handset with two SIM cards were recovered from them.

Meanwhile, Manoj Soren admitted that they were cadres of NSLA and also confessed that they outfit were demanding money amounting to Rs 50,000 from businessmen.
