Two over loaded Coal-Laden Trucks seized by Police at Naojan in Dhansiri Subdivision, Drivers Apprehended

Sarupathar: Naojan police team with garnered support of Tai-Ahom Yuba Parishad of Dhansiri Subdivision seized two overloaded coal-laden trucks bearing registration no AS-03BC-6387 and AS-04AC-8541 on Saturday. The police also apprehended the two drivers from the spot on Saturday.

As per reports, one driver was identified as Shiv Kumar, however, the identity of other driver was not ascertained yet. Both of the drivers were booked for allegedly carrying coals without a valid permit or challan.

According to the driver, a person identified as Sirajul, a local resident of Chungajan under Dhansiri Subdivision in Golaghat district is involved in helping the driver’s to carry the illegal coals to the border areas of Assam-Nagaland.

According to highly placed police sources, the overloaded coal-laden trucks were detained at Naojan while coming from Sivasagar, Naginimara and were heading towards Sarupathar at Chungajan in Assam-Nagaland border.

It may be mentioned that when Naojan police were informed about the matter, a police team immediately rushed to the spot and apprehended the drivers for not producing valid documents.

The drivers were forwarded to police custody.
