Two persons kidpped

SHILLONG, Nov 30: Two persons from Meghalaya were kidpped in Assam after they went there after having received several phone calls from unknown persons.

According to police, on November 26, the two persons - Ben G. Langstieh (24) of Mawprem locality in the city and Ilotstar Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi (40) of Mairang, West Khasi Hills went to Joggipa, Bongaigaon, after having received several phone calls from persons of the area claiming to offer bones specimens of dwarfs.

The miscreants made the duo believe that the bone specimens of the dwarfs would draw money and riches to whoever possesses it. “After meeting those persons who made the offer they were however abducted and taken to a jungle at Chaibari under Chapar police station where they were confined and a demand of Rs five lakhs made from the family members for their release,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Mariahom Kharkrang said. Accordingly, the family members of the victim reported the matter to the Police in which the Special Cell East Khasi Hills immediately took steps to identify the culprits in collaboration with Assam Police.  “On information that the police had established their identities and about to launch an operation, they released the two victims,” Kharkrang added.  A case vide Lumdiengjri P.S Case No. 134(11)2016 U/S 342/384/511 IPC has been registered.
