Two sentenced to 7 years rigorous imprisonment

Rangia, Aug 16: Pankaj Deka,  extension worker of Irrigation Department, and  a mediator Doli Mandal, were sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 7 years and to pay Rs 5,000 or  simple imprisonment. This verdict was given by the court of the Additiol Session Judge (FTC) Dibya Jyoti Mahanta. According to the sources,  Pankaj  Deka,  with the help of Doli Mandal, had raped a minor girl of 13 years of okata under police station Goreswar in the departmental  quarter of Deka on the night of July 21, 2008. The father of the victim lodged an FIR in the Goreswar  police station vide case no 63/2008 under section 376/109 IPC. After eight long years, the Additiol Session judge Mahanta convicted them and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment.  Senior government pleader Hiranya Chowdhury argued on behalf of the victim.
