Two sisters meet watery grave in Goalpara

Goalpara, August 2: In an unfortute incident on Tuesday in Goalpara, two sisters died while trying to save their younger brother’s life. The incident happened at Bohoti Bhatipara village under the Matia revenue circle. According to information, the three of them -  Sofia Khatun (12), Sajbi Begum (11) and Sahanur Ali Mondal (7)  had gone to their uncle Sorofuddin’s house through the Udbagra beel in a country boat . While returning, the boat capsized and all of them fell in the beel which had been inundated in the recent flood. Both Sofia and Sajbi strived to keep their brother Sahanur above the water for a long a time. However, while trying to do so, both the sisters filly drowned in the beel. On the other hand, the family members of the victims immediately carried out a rescue operation and successfully recovered Sahanur alive. However, the sisters had already met their watery grave. Later, their bodies were sent for post mortem to the Goalpara town hospital.
