SHILLONG, June 26: A huge quantity of marijua in the range of 35-38kg worth around Rs. 40 lakhs was seized by the city police in the wee hours of Monday morning from Police Bazaar area.
East Kashi Hills, Davis N Marak informed The Sentinel that two persons claiming to be from Tripura were detained by a police petrol team at around 6.15 am and upon searching their bags a huge amount of marijua was found.
Marak said that two persons were loitering around suspiciously in Police Bazaar area and a police team picked them up and took them to Sadar Police station and later when their bags were checked it was found that they were carrying with them huge amount of marijua.
The two accused arrested by police have been identified as Mangal Debbarma (19) and Hiran Debbarma (27) of West Tripura in Agartala. The SP informed that the two accused will be produced before the Court tomorrow.
