Two tea labourers injured in wild buffalo attack

JORHAT, Aug 20: Two female workers of Burapahar Tea Estate along the NH-37 were attacked by a wild buffalo inside the tea estate, said Burapahar Range Forest office sources.

The two tea garden workers were plucking tea leaves when they were attacked by the wild buffalo. Following the attack, labourers of the tea estate ghearaoed the Burapahar Forest Beat Office for alleged negligence of the forest guards to capture the wild animals which venture out of the forest area to the neigbouring tea estates beside NH-37 and Karbi Anglong hill tops.

S Borgohain, Range Officer of Burapahar Range, assured the protesting tea labourers that KNP authority would take full responsibility to bear the expenses of the two injured labourers. Later, both were shifted to Jokholabondha and Tezpur Hospital respectively.
