Two teachers arrested

JOYSAGAR, April 11: Two Higher Secondary school teachers were arrested by the Simaluguri Police, Sivasagar on Monday on the charge of securing government job with fake educatiol qualification certificates. As per the directives of State Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Simaluguri Police arrested Pradipjyoti Mahanta and Prasanta Bora, Mathematics teachers of Simaluguri HS School. As per information, Mahanta and Bora had allegedly produced fake M.Sc degree certificate of BR Ambedkar University as well as fake B.Ed certificates of Rajashree Tandon Open University of Uttar Pradesh.
In an investigation conducted by the police as well as Education Department officials, these certificates produced earlier were found to be fake. On the charge of producing fake certificate and duping the government as well as the school authorities, a case was registered against both the teachers under section 419/420/468/471/34 of IPC in Simaluguri Police Station on Monday, sources revealed. Sources also said that there was a gang which sold such fake certificate in and around Sivasagar district and people often buy such certificates to secure government jobs, especially in government schools.
