Two thieves lynched by mob

Goalpara, August 9: In a sensatiol development on Tuesday in Goalpara, two suspected thieves were led to death after public beating. At least two others were injured in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Anower Hussain (35) and Noor Mohammed (38).

According to information, theft occurred in the village Deuli under Lakhipur PS on Monday night in which a group of four thieves stole three cows from the house of a villager in a Tata mobile vehicle. On Tuesday, following a secret tip off , the villagers came to know that the cows were being taken to Meghalaya through the Thakurvilla village.

At Thakurvilla, their vehicles were stopped by local people by making a trench in the middle of the road. However, the four maged to flee from the scene leaving the vehicle. The public rescued three cows from the Tata mobile and set ablaze the vehicle.

On the other hand, two thieves, Anower Hussain and Noor Mohammed, arrived at Maladhara, a tribal village where they were severely beaten for the theft. In the meantime, police arrived at the scene and rescued the duo in a serious condition. Later, the doctors at Goalpara Civil Hospital declared them dead.

Meanwhile, the two other thieves who arrived at Borjhora village were also beaten and then handed over to police. Among these two, the condition of Mofidul Islam is stable. However, his colleague, whose identity has yet not been established, is fighting with death. Police have reportedly picked up several persons for questioning.
