FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itagar, April 28: Continuing its fight for justice, the Ta Youth Federation (TYF) in an ultimatum served to the Capital SP, has demanded immediate termition of SI P Nobin Jomoh for allegedly manhandling two persons mely Ta Rasso and Ta Tado without any reasons on April 9 last.

TYF president Ta Roma Tara informed that according to the inquiry made by the federation, the victims were innocent and they did not at all deserve the third degree torture which was given to them.

“A police officer can detain a person inside the lock up for 24 hours and after that the prisoner has to be produce before magistrate. If the culprit is found guilty only then the magistrate further extends the days in custody. But in this case we did not find anything being following as per the law,” alleged Tara further adding that the illegal detention has lead the two seriously injured.

“Both Raaso and Tado are law students who are about to give theirs examition,” claimed Roma.  Threatening that the federation would launch a series of democratic movement and knock the door of the court to get justice, the TYF also questioned as to why the SI of Nirjuli police station was not taking any action against Jomoh despite of an FIR against him. “We even submitted a memorandum to chief minister as well but due to his busy schedule our plea is still unheard. If an officer who is supposed to protect and work under law breaks it, then what will be the situation of the state in days to come,” questioned TYF Convener Ta Domin Tara. The federation has submitted an ultimatum of seven days to the SP.
