Tynriang Sirdarship appointed as Sirdar

SHILLONG, June 20: The Executive Committee (EC) of KHADC today recommended Tynriang Sirdarship as Sirdar of Tynriang Sirdarship. The EC of KHADC recommended the Council under section 5 of the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of Chiefs and Headmen) Act 1959 that Tynriang Sirdarship, who was elected unopposed, be appointed as Sirdar of Tynriang Sirdarship for a term of five years. The post of Sirdar of Tynriang Sirdarship remained following the resigtion of Oldin Nongrum on June 27, 2015. The Executive Committee as a stop gap appointed Lumspah Khongtiang as Acting Sirdar. EM in-charge Elaka L Blah informed that the election of the Sirdar of Tynriang Sirdarship was conducted at the Dorbar Pyllun of Tynriang Elaka on March 29, 2016; where Teilang Khongkhlad was was unimously elected to the post and the result of the election was declared on April 24, 2016.
