UAFYA urges Centre to grant indigenous State status to Assam

Dibrugarh, March 29: An executive meeting of the United Assamese Youth Forum of Assam (UAYFA) was organized here at Axom Xahitya Bhavan recently with the sanction of all its members, decided to shuffle two officials of the founding committee.

As such the general secretary Monoj Gogoi and organizatiol secretary Pabitra Pran Bora, due to some unspecified reason for indefinite period, were released from the primary membership of Youth Forum.  At present the executive committee of UAYFA, with a resolution has chosen president Krishkanta Phukan as general secretary, Rubul Dutta as president in-charge, Kiran Bora as fince secretary and Babul Saikia as cultural secretary, has decided to carry on the works of the committee, stated the publicity secretary Mandip Hazarika.

In a press communiqué, UAFYA has called upon the Central Government to grant the indigenous State status to Assam and have urged upon all the political parties not to fool around with the people of the State at the time of election, just for the sake of earning votes.  

The president in-charge Rubul Dutta and general secretary Krish Kanta Phukan, while cautioning all the political leaders who have been using the matter of scheduling of the six indigenous tribes as an election alluring policy, have stated that for ignoring the development of the State and its people, in the coming days all the political parties will have to bear the brunt of their organization.
