UBC Challenge Soccer from Oct 3

GUWAHATI, Sept 11:  The second edition of the UBC Challenge Veteran Soccer championship will kick off at the Judges ground on October 3. Altogether 8 teams will take part in the meet which will be organized by United Brothers Club.

Addressing a media gathering Pranoy Bordoloi, the president of the club, said, “The first edition of the meet was grand success last year and this time many teams , including a few from abroad, showed interest to participate in the meet. However we have decided to restrict the tourment among the teams from Assam because of fincial constraints.”

The eight teams who will be seen in action in the meet are United Brothers club, defending champion Gauhati Town Club, ASEB Football Club, Duliajan FC, Silchar Veteran Club, Dakshin Bangsewa Sangha, Kokrajhar Veteran Football Club and Khapara Football Club. Players above 40 years of age will be allowed to play in the tourment where champion will receive Rs 50,000 and runners up Rs 30,000.

Bordoloi also announced that during the championship few sports organizers and soccer players will be felicitated by the United Brothers club." Although the mes are not filized yet but we have decided that few former footballers and organizers will be felicitated during the meet and we will announce their mes very soon," said Bordoloi.  Apart from Bordoloi, the media briefing was also attended by Dhiraj Dutta and Rituraj Bhagawati, secretary and treasurer of the club respectively.
