Uber rape case: Accused wants to re-examine witnesses

New Delhi, February 16: Rape-accused Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav on Monday moved an application in a court here seeking to recall some prosecution witnesses in the case for further cross examition. Yadav’s defence counsel Dharmender Mishra told Additiol Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that the lawyer who was previously associated with him was not compete enough to defend him. He needed certain clarifications from the prosecution witnesses and therefore further cross examition is necessary, he said.  

However, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava opposed his plea and said that defence is trying to delay the trial in the case. Meanwhile the court reserved its order on the plea and fixed Feb 18 for delivering order. The prosecution Jan 31 completed recording of evidence in a court here in just 17 days. According to police, the woman executive was allegedly raped by 32-year-old Yadav inside his cab on the night of December 5, 2014.  (IANS)
