Uber rape case: Fingerprints of accused match

New Delhi, January 23: A forensic expert on Friday told a court here that the fingerprints of the Uber cab driver, accused of raping a woman executive, matched with the fingerprints obtained from the vehicle in which she was allegedly raped. Senior scientific officer in the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Harender Prasad told Additiol Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that a few fingerprints were found in the Swift Dzire car, inside which the woman was allegedly raped. Testifying as a prosecution witness in the case, he told the court that the discovered prints matched with the fingerprints of the accused, Shiv Kumar Yadav. Prasad denied the suggestion made by the defence counsel that he prepared the report under the instructions of the police. The court also recorded the statement of two other officials of the forensic lab, a doctor who examined the accused and four police officials. A doctor of Hindu Rao hospital, Alok Kumar, told the court that he found multiple abrasions on the face of the accused when he was brought to him on December 8. Sub–Inspector Devender said that he did not ask any public person to join them while arresting the accused in Mathura fearing something untoward might happen as the accused was a local. Yadav, 32, was arrested by Delhi Police jointly with local police on December 7 from his hideout in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The trial will continue Saturday and the court will likely record the statement of two police officials. Yadav had allegedly raped the woman executive in the cab she hired to head back home in north Delhi’s Inderlok area Dec 5 last year.  (IANS)
