UBI ATM lifted from kiosk, cash looted

DIGBOI, September 16: Unidentified miscreants broke the ATM counter and stole the cash box from the premises of Golai based Dehing branch of United Bank of India under Digboi Police Station on Monday night.

The miscreants broke into the counter using sophisticated tools thereby damaging the machine, and carried away the cash box along with them.

Team Digboi Police headed by Inspector Chandan Milli rushed to the spot, took the circumstantial evidences under note and carried the investigations to b the entire network involved in the act following the clues emerging out of the evidences and CCTV footage.

Meanwhile, the higher officials of the bank also reached the place of occurrence and tried to ascertain the amount stolen after evaluating the days’ transactions on the machine. However, according to sources, more than Rs 5 lakh was in the stolen cash box.

A team from District Police and a team of Digboi police are working to b the miscreants. However, no arrest was made till the time of filing of this report.
