Uble to gift new clothes to his family, farmer commits suicide in Chirang

Bongaigaon, October 24: A farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a mobile tower on Saturday out of being frustration due to his poor fincial condition.

Lakhyeswar Ray (28), son of Kamalakanta Ray, was a resident of 2 No Mokocha village under Panbari PS of Chirang district. Sandip Ray, uncle of Lakhyeswar Ray, said that Lakhyeswar was frustrated since few days. “Lakhyeswar’s family is dependent on cultivation. But this year, they could not mage a good produce. Hence their economical condition worsened. Lakhyeswar was pretty frustrated and depressed since some days. Once he told me also that he was unhappy as he had not been able to gift new clothes to his family members this year. Last night he out for the Vijoya Dashami celebration and after returning he took dinner and went to sleep. But today morning, some villagers informed us that he had committed suicide by hanging himself from the mobile tower near his house. We suspect that being frustrated for being able to gift new clothes to family members, he committed suicide,” said Sandip Ray. Police have sent the body for postmortem.
